Dr Hu works as Senior Legal and Policy Advisor and Policy Co-Coordinator for Access Campaign of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders). She is a licensed lawyer and researcher with the affiliation with the Law, Development and Environment Research Centre at School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Yuan’s main expertise looks at the intersections between intellectual property, human rights and access to medicines. She taught intellectual property law, technology transfer and international law and has published several works on the issues. In her previous career, she also led research and analysis on law and policy issues concerning child’s rights and environmental justice at Save the Children and Natural Resources Defence Council. Yuan holds a PhD in law from SOAS, University of London, MPhil in theory and practice of human rights from the Norwegian Centre of Human Rights, University of Oslo, LLM and LLB from University of London and Shandong University in China.
