Sasha Stevenson, Head of Health, Section 27
I am an attorney and lead a team of lawyers, activists and researchers in the Health Rights Programme at SECTION27, a public interest law organisation in South Africa. SECTION27’s use of the law to catalyse social change means that, far from maintaining a traditional legal practice, I am just as likely to be found speaking about rights to nurses and patients in a remote rural clinic as in a boardroom or courtroom.
Prior to joining SECTION27, I worked at a commercial law firm, as a clerk for the Chief Justice at the Constitutional Court of South Africa, and at the International Criminal Court in The Hague.
I hold degrees from Rhodes University in South Africa and the University of Cambridge.
