Purnima Menon is Senior Research Fellow and Theme Leader for South Asia Nutrition Programs in IFPRI’s Poverty, Health and Nutrition Division. Dr. Menon conducts implementation research focused on supporting the scale up of maternal and child nutrition interventions and her research portfolio includes empirical analysis of large-scale data, program evaluations, policy analyses and more. She directs POSHAN (Partnerships and Opportunities to Strengthen and Harmonize Actions for Nutrition in India), an initiative to support more use of evidence for nutrition in India. She has also led a team evaluating large-scale behavior change communication interventions in nutrition, implemented by Alive & Thrive in multiple countries for over a decade. She co-convenes a global nutrition policy course with the Institute for Development Studies in the UK, and serves on several national and global advisory and technical groups, including the Global Nutrition Report, the Countdown to 2030 and others. She has a Ph.D. in International Nutrition from Cornell University and a M.Sc. in Nutrition from the University of Delhi and has published extensively in the academic literature
