Richard Cash

Prof. Cash is an American global health researcher, public health physician, internist, and winner of the Prince Mahidol Award. He is a Senior Lecturer in International Health and Director of the Program on Ethical Issues in International Health in the Department of Global Health & Population of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston. Dr. Cash began his international career over 40 years ago at the Cholera Research Laboratory in East Pakistan, which is now icddr,b in Bangladesh which conducted the first clinical trials of oral rehydration therapy (ORT) cholera patients. Discoveries in ORT have been estimated to have saved over 50 million lives worldwide. He resides in Delhi as a Visiting Professor in Public Health at the AchuthaMenon Centre for Health Sciences Studies in Trivandrum, Kerala and is an Advisor of Global Health at the Public Health Foundation of India.
