Epidemic Intelligence Unit, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand
Supharerk Thawillarp, MD, MS, DrPH is currently the Director of Epidemic Intelligence Unit (EIU) at the Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, a senior professional-level medical doctor, as well as Preventive medicine specialist. His background education covers two very specific and intertwined fields of expertise, including epidemiology and digital health, which is most relevant in the current situation and future crises. After his graduation from Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University, he then went on to train in the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP34) at the Ministry of Public Health. Afterwards he completed his Masters of Science degree in the Division of Health Sciences Informatics at the School of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, where he is now a DrPH candidate in Public Health Informative Degrees in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Apart from his education, he also had extensive of professional experiences in the integration of the two fields, including his work with UNICEF in the Development of HIV dashboard and indicator for monitoring HIV progress in Thailand. He was also a guest researcher at the Centers for disease control and Prevention (USCDC), Georgia, USA. Dr. Supharuek also has numerous publications and presentations both domestically and internationally.
