Dr. Fethiye Gülin Gedik, MD, MSc, PhD is a physician with postgraduate training in public health and health economics. She has been working in the area of health policies, systems and human resources for health over 25 years, with experiences at national and international levels. She started her career as general practitioner at district level and then worked for the Turkish Ministry of Health involving in national health policy development and health care reforms in Turkey. She joined the WHO Regional Office for Europe: worked in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan as resident adviser supporting health care reform master plan; then undertook the responsibility for health care policies and systems in Central Asian Republics at the WHO regional office for Europe in Copenhagen. She joined the Department of Health Services Provision, working on organizational aspects of service provision and then the Department of Human Resources for Health at WHO Headquarters. She moved to the World Health Organization, Regional Office for Western Pacific Regional Office as the team leader, Human Resources for Health. Dr Gülin Gedik is currently the Coordinator, Health Workforce Development in the WHO Regional Office for Eastern Mediterranean.
